Last summer I had the pleasure of hosting another Portfolio Builder with Lauren of Stone House Creative. I have been hoarding so many great images from that day, and now I'm excited to share with you my favourites from each of these wonderful photographers who joined us for the session: Brittany Mahood, Tiara Nicole Photography, Photography by Jolaika, Florence Photography, Evergreen Films, Orysa Stein Photography and Kashton Photography.

Isn't this little grove in Churchill Park along the Red River so ordinarily beautiful? It makes me wonder who planted these trees and what their intentions were. Did they envision a gathering spot like this? It's not often you find trees planted in a circle in the middle of a field. However they imagined the space being used, I hope we made them proud.

The surroundings and ambiance were beautifully captured by Brittany Mahood:

From the wafer paper lace to the hand painted butterflies, I absolutely adore the whimsical butterfly cake that Jenna of Jenna Rae Cakes dreamed up. If I didn't love her cakes so much, I would say this one looks too good to eat.

For each photographer, we create a bespoke tablescape and outfit models with unique apparel and accessories, which I admit is the most time consuming and challenging aspect of our Portfolio Builders. We go into the day with a detailed design plan for each scene, all of which are inspired by a style guide and colour palette to complement the location. Location is the first element we choose, and I was really inspired by the charm of two darling tree groves right in my neighbourhood - overgrown, natural and gorgeous.

Florence Photography captured these raw, joy-filled moments and some of the most creative groom portraits I’ve ever scene with Derek Bassey wearing Eph Apparel.

The gowns varied from playful and romantic to sleek and modern. More often than not, we accessorized with butterflies and floral embellishments to play off our natural setting.

I love the way Tiara Nicole Photography captured Meg wearing this romantic lace gown from Bliss Bridal Boutique and accessories from Luna & Stone:

OM Couture sent us their Megan mini dress for the modern, unconventional bride. Kashton Photography captured its playful details. Don’t miss the complimentary sheer floral embellished socks we paired it with:

The Williams by Pronovias sheath gown from Bliss Bridal is a real stunner, worn by Aisha. The cape gives it some real goddess vibes, so I took that inspiration and tied it into some of the other design details, like the wreath stationery suite and olive oil guest name cards that double as lovely little take-aways. We had Kind Regards offer her calligraphy for envelope addressing and place cards.

We had the pleasure of Photography by Jolaika’s company, who joined us for her second Portfolio Builder. I love the way she played with harsh afternoon sun and shadows:

The feminine and fruity colour palette danced with peach, purple, blue and orange. We actually intended on a very muted palette within these colours, but when life throws you coral and other bright coloured flowers that you can get your hands on in a worldwide flower shortage, you work with it.

I love how Orysa Stein Photography notices and clearly captures the little details, right down to the fluffy petals of the ranunculus and stones in the Mokada rings:

We really lucked out with some great weather this day - hot and sunny with a light breeze. This short by Evergreen Films really captures that. I love the way the flower petals and entrance draping by Planned Perfectly dance in the wind:
